How to Extend the Service Life of Dredger Cutter Heads, Bucket Wheels, and Drag Heads?
Dredger accessories are in long-term contact with silt, sand, gravel, and underwater soil layers, enduring wear, impact, corrosion, and alternating loads. Extending their service life cannot rely solely on increasing material hardness; it also requires proper selection, installation, operation, and maintenance.
First, accessories should be selected based on underwater soil and particle conditions. Soft silt, clay, fine sand, dense sand layers, and gravel-bearing soil have different structural and material requirements for cutter heads, bucket wheels, cutting wheels, and drag heads.
Second, ensure that accessories properly match the original equipment. Verify before installation: avoid prolonged operation of the equipment beyond its suitable working conditions. Abnormal impacts, severe vibrations, sudden soil changes, foreign object ingress, and loose fasteners can all cause localized wear, cracks, or structural deformation.
If abnormal wear occurs continuously at a specific position, you should not only replace the parts, but also check the rotational speed, equipment alignment, installation position, soil variations, and operating methods.
