What information is required when replacing an impeller or pump casing?
Impellers and pump casings are typically matched with specific pump models, shaft assemblies, seals, and other wet-end components. Simply stating "a slurry pump impeller is needed" or "the pump casing needs replacement" is usually not sufficient for accurate quotation and manufacturing.
It is recommended to provide the following as a priority: pump brand; complete pump model; photo of the pump nameplate; part name; original part number or drawing number; original technical drawings; required quantity; photos of the old part from different angles; key wear or damage locations; material of the existing part; and equipment installation and operating conditions.
For the pump casing, measurements are typically required for: suction and discharge port dimensions; flange and bolt hole locations; overall external dimensions; mounting hole patterns; internal mating dimensions; sealing surfaces; and connection positions with wear plates or liners.
If the old part is severely worn, cracked, or deformed, relying solely on measurements of the used component may not accurately restore the original dimensions. In such cases, confirmation must also be made in conjunction with the pump assembly drawing, dimensions of adjacent components, or on-site trial fitting requirements.
