When industrial pumps handle slurries, mortar, mud, clean water, or chemical media over long periods, shaft sleeves, stuffing boxes, packings, bearings, seals, and oil seals also require regular inspection and replacement, in addition to impellers, pump casings, and liner plates. Although these parts are typically smaller than the main wet ends, they directly affect the pump's sealing, transmission, lubrication, and operational stability.
Shaft sleeves are installed at specific positions on the pump shaft to protect the shaft and reduce direct wear on the shaft surface caused by seals, packing, or the medium. Once worn, shaft sleeves may affect sealing performance and pump shaft fit.
Stuffing boxes accommodate packing, mechanical seals, or other sealing components, providing installation space for the sealing system. The specific structure should be confirmed based on the pump model and sealing method.
Packing mates with the shaft sleeve or shaft surface to reduce axial leakage of the medium. Packing typically allows a certain degree of controlled leakage to meet lubrication and heat dissipation requirements, with specific requirements subject to product documentation.
Bearings support the pump shaft and rotating components. The condition of bearings affects pump vibration, noise, temperature rise, and impeller running stability.
Seals are used to reduce leakage and ingress of media, lubricating oil, or external contaminants. Different types and materials of seals may be used at different locations.
Oil seals are mainly used on rotating shafts to prevent lubricating oil leakage or the ingress of external dust and moisture into bearings and lubrication zones.
