What Are the Differences Between SAG Mill Liners and Ball Mill Liners?
Both SAG mill liners and ball mill liners are used to protect the mill shell and influence the movement of internal materials and grinding media. However, because the feed materials, grinding media, impact, and wear conditions of the two mill types can differ, liners cannot be selected based solely on mill diameter.
SAG mills typically handle a mixture composed of ore, grinding media, and slurry. The liners must withstand the impact, wear, and cyclic loads generated by both the ore and the grinding media.
Ball mills primarily utilize grinding media to further grind materials. The lifter bars, liner profiles, and arrangement of the liners affect the motion state of the grinding media as well as mill operation.
Rubber liners, metal liners, and composite liners are suitable for different impact, wear, and temperature conditions. Whether to use rubber or rubber composite structures should be confirmed in combination with the mill's operating conditions and technical design.
SAG mill liners and ball mill liners should not be interchanged directly. The final structure, material, and arrangement should be subject to the technical evaluation of the corresponding mill and operating conditions.
