How to Match the Flow Rate, Head, and Piping of a Ceramic Slurry Pump?

Whether a ceramic slurry pump can operate stably depends not only on the pump itself, but also on the matching relationship among flow rate, head, piping, and slurry properties.

The flow rate should be determined based on process conveying capacity, sump volume, or production cycle, with a clear distinction between normal flow rate and peak flow rate. If the flow rate is too low, it may increase the risk of slurry sedimentation, internal recirculation, or localized wear; if the flow rate is too high, it may lead to increased piping flow velocity, resistance, and wear.

The head cannot be determined solely by the vertical lift height; it should also account for horizontal pipe resistance, elbows, valves, reducers, discharge endpoint pressure, and the impact of slurry density. For high-concentration slurries, system resistance typically differs from clear water conditions, so empirical data for clean water pumps cannot be directly applied.

The pipe diameter also needs to be properly matched. If the pipe diameter is too small, it may cause excessive flow velocity and accelerate pipeline wear; if the pipe diameter is too large, it may result in insufficient flow velocity and particle sedimentation. The actual pipe diameter should be calculated or technically evaluated in combination with flow rate, particle size, solid content, and site layout.

When requesting a quote, it is recommended to provide a piping drawing or site sketch, including lift height, horizontal distance, pipe diameter, pipe material, number of elbows, valve locations, and discharge endpoint. This helps confirm the actual operating point of the pump and the motor power configuration.

How to request a quote for ceramic slurry pumps from Morikawa?
Please provide the pumped medium, flow rate, head, solids content, particle size, temperature, installation method, operating hours, quantity, and destination. For existing equipment, model numbers, nameplates, drawings, or photos are also welcome.
How to perform routine maintenance on ceramic slurry pumps?
Regularly inspect impellers, casings, seals, bearings, couplings, and fasteners, and monitor vibration, leakage, temperature rise, flow, and pressure. Replace wear parts based on actual wear conditions.
What are the common spare parts for ceramic slurry pumps?
Common spare parts include impellers, casings, liner plates, shaft sleeves, seal components, and bearing assemblies, confirmed via pump model, part number, or drawing.
Can ceramic slurry pumps be customized?
Yes. We can configure or customize pumps based on flow rate, head, medium properties, wet-end materials, seal types, drive methods, and installation conditions.
Are ceramic slurry pumps suitable for highly abrasive media?
Yes. Configurations and materials can be customized for abrasive slurries. Materials for impellers, casings, and other wet-end parts depend on particle hardness, concentration, flow velocity, and operating hours.
How to select a ceramic slurry pump?
Pump selection requires flow rate, head, medium type, solids content, particle size, density, temperature, pH value, operating hours, and installation method.
What media can ceramic slurry pumps handle?
They handle ceramic slip, grinding slurries, ore pulp, mortar, and industrial slurries with solid particles. Suitability depends on medium concentration, particle size, density, and temperature.
What applications are ceramic slurry pumps suitable for?
Ceramic slurry pumps primarily handle ceramic slip, slurries with hard particles, and other highly abrasive media. They are widely used in ceramics, mining, mineral processing, building materials, and industrial conveying.
