What Is the Difference Between a Slurry Pump Liner and a Slurry Pump Casing?

In some slurry pump designs, the liner and the outer pump casing may be two distinct components. The liner typically comes into direct contact with the slurry, forming the flow passage and withstanding particle erosion, while the outer pump casing often serves functions such as support, connection, fixation, or pressure containment.

However, the terminology used varies across different manufacturers and models. Some technical literature refers to the liner as the pump casing, internal casing, or volute. Therefore, parts should not be determined solely based on Chinese naming conventions during procurement.

After prolonged operation, the liner may exhibit flow channel erosion, localized thinning, grooving, cracks, or perforations. Severe wear on the liner can lead to altered internal flow passages, reduced pump efficiency, leakage, or damage to the external structure.

When replacing a liner, it is essential to verify its inlet and outlet dimensions, bolt hole configurations, positioning locations, direction of rotation, internal flow path geometry, and mating tolerances with the impeller, throatbush (front liner), and frame plate liner insert (back liner). A similar appearance does not guarantee direct interchangeability.

Contact Us
What information is required for an inquiry?
We recommend providing the original equipment model, part name, part number, installation dimensions, medium parameters, wear photos, required quantity, and delivery destination.
How to select part materials?
Materials should be selected based on medium concentration, particle size, particle hardness, wear severity, temperature, and corrosiveness, subject to technical confirmation.
Can pump parts be customized based on samples?
Yes. Customers can provide drawings, dimensions, photos, part numbers, or physical samples for part evaluation and customization.
How to choose the right pump parts?
Selection should be confirmed based on the original equipment brand, pump type, model, part number, installation dimensions, conveyed medium, and wear conditions.
What equipment are these parts suitable for?
They are mainly suitable for slurry pumps, gravel pumps, dredge pumps, submersible slurry pumps, and other slurry transport equipment.
What products are included in the pump parts series?
The pump parts series mainly includes slurry pump wet-end and wear-resistant parts such as impellers, casings (liners), front liners, and back liners.
