What Are the Differences Between Gravel Pumps, Dredge Pumps, and Standard Slurry Pumps?

Gravel pumps, dredge pumps, and standard slurry pumps can all transport media containing solid particles, but their primary applications and structural focuses differ.

Heavy-duty gravel pumps are mainly used to transport slurries containing larger sand grains, gravel, or highly abrasive particles. Selection requires key focus on particle passing capability, impact resistance conditions, and wet-end parts wear.

Dredge pumps are primarily used in dredging projects such as rivers, ports, waterways, land reclamation, and hydraulic engineering. In addition to handling solids, factors such as long-distance discharge, matching with dredging equipment, on-site mobility, and slurry concentration variations must also be considered.

Standard slurry pumps are more commonly used for fixed slurry transportation in mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, and industrial production lines, typically paired with specific process equipment and piping systems.

When selecting, compare the following: whether the medium is fine-particle mineral slurry, silt, mortar, or gravel slurry; maximum particle size and shape; solids content and medium density; degree of particle impact; discharge distance and head; installation method; whether it needs to be matched with a dredger; whether operation is continuous; and on-site maintenance conditions.

If the medium is predominantly fine-particle mineral slurry, a standard slurry pump may be more suitable; if it contains larger sand grains and gravel, heavy-duty gravel pumps should be primarily evaluated; if the project belongs to a complete dredging and reclamation system, an integrated selection combining dredge pumps and supporting equipment is required.

What are the common spare parts for CG/CGH gravel pumps?
Common spare parts include impellers, casings, throatbushes/liners, shaft sleeves, seals, and bearing assemblies. Customers can provide pump models, part numbers, drawings, dimensions, or photos to confirm replacements. Refer to confirmed CG/CGH technical documents for exact flow, head, max particle size, materials, and motor power. The FAQ covers applications, working conditions, selection, customization, and spare parts.
Can CG/CGH gravel pumps be customized?
Yes. We customize configurations based on flow rate, head, medium properties, particle size, wet-end materials, drive types, nozzle orientation, and installation conditions.
Are CG/CGH gravel pumps suitable for large-particle media?
Designed for handling gravel and large solids, this series offers high particle passage capacity. The actual maximum particle size depends on the specific model and technical specifications.
How to select the right CG/CGH gravel pump specifications?
Selection requires flow rate, head, conveyance distance, discharge height, slurry concentration, max particle size, pipe specs, suction conditions, and operating hours.
What media can CG/CGH gravel pumps convey?
This series conveys gravel, mineral sands, mud, river sediments, and other solid-laden slurries. Applicability depends on particle size, slurry concentration, density, and abrasiveness.
What applications are CG/CGH heavy-duty gravel pumps suitable for?
CG/CGH heavy-duty gravel pumps are primarily used in river sand mining, gravel transport, mine tailings discharge, dredging, and conveying media containing large solid particles.
