What Are the Respective Roles of the Impeller and Casing in a Slurry Pump?

The impeller and casing are critical wet-end parts in slurry pumps, gravel pumps, and dredge pumps. They come into direct contact with mineral slurry, sand slurry, sludge, and other particulate-laden media, so their structure, dimensions, and materials significantly impact the pump's flow rate, head, particle passing capability, operating efficiency, and wear resistance.

Driven by an electric motor or other drive unit, the impeller rotates to transfer mechanical energy to the medium, imparting flow velocity and pressure to the slurry. The impeller's diameter, blade count, blade profile, passage size, and direction of rotation must match the specific pump model and duty point.

The pump casing houses the impeller and directs the medium discharged from the impeller toward the outlet. Depending on the pump type, the casing may feature a volute, split casing, or other configurations. It must also withstand medium pressure, particle erosion, and installation loads.

If the dimensions, clearances, or structures of the impeller and casing do not match, issues such as insufficient flow, head drop, vibration, rubbing, leakage, or abnormal wear may occur.

How to request a quote for pump parts from Senchuan?
Please provide the part name, OEM pump model, part number, installation dimensions, medium parameters, quantity, photos or drawings, and delivery destination.
How to select wear-resistant materials for impellers and casings?
Selection must comprehensively consider particle size, hardness, solid content, flow velocity, temperature, and corrosiveness, rather than just the pump model name.
Can materials for impellers and casings be customized?
Yes. Suitable material solutions can be evaluated based on slurry concentration, particle size, wear severity, temperature, and corrosiveness.
Can replacement parts be manufactured from samples?
Yes. We can evaluate structure and dimensions based on physical samples, drawings, or dimensional data, and arrange production upon confirmation.
How to confirm the model of impellers and casings?
Please provide the OEM brand, pump model, part number, drawings, dimensions, photos, and medium parameters for technical verification.
Can impellers or casings be purchased separately?
Yes. Customers can purchase impellers, casings, or other matching parts separately based on maintenance and replacement needs.
Which industrial pumps are impellers and casings suitable for?
Mainly suitable for slurry pumps, gravel pumps, dredge pumps, submersible slurry pumps, froth pumps, and other slurry transport equipment.
What products are included in the pump parts series?
The series mainly includes impellers and casings. Liners, shaft sleeves, seals, and other wear parts can also be evaluated based on the pump model.
