What Are the Types of Slurry Pump Impellers? How Should You Choose?

Slurry pump impellers can adopt different structures depending on specific product designs. Common classifications may include closed impellers, semi-open impellers, open impellers, or impellers with special passages; however, the actual types offered by your company should be based on product drawings and model documentation.

Different impeller structures may vary in efficiency, solids-passage capability, anti-clogging performance, and maintenance methods. When selecting an impeller, you cannot merely look at the outer diameter or the number of vanes; you must also confirm whether it matches the pump casing, pump shaft, and actual operating conditions.

Key parameters to confirm during selection include:

Normal and maximum flow rates; required head; pumped medium; maximum particle size; solid content and slurry density; particle shape and hardness; medium temperature and corrosiveness; pump speed; impeller diameter; vane quantity and passage dimensions; direction of rotation; shaft bore and mounting method.

If used to replace an existing impeller, it is recommended to provide the original pump model, impeller part/drawing number, photos of the old impeller, and critical dimensions. If the old impeller is severely worn, measurements should not be taken solely based on the worn dimensions; the original dimensions should be confirmed in conjunction with the pump casing, liners, and technical drawings. A larger impeller diameter does not necessarily mean the flow rate and head will be more suitable. Changing the impeller diameter or structure may affect the operating point, motor power, and operational stability, and should be evaluated by technical personnel based on pump performance and system conditions.

How to request a quote for pump parts from Senchuan?
Please provide part names, OEM models, part numbers, installation dimensions, medium parameters, quantity, photos or drawings, and delivery destination.
How to select wear-resistant materials for impellers and casings?
Selection must comprehensively consider particle size, particle hardness, solids content, flow velocity, temperature, and corrosiveness, rather than just the pump model.
Can impeller and casing materials be customized?
Yes. Suitable materials can be evaluated based on medium concentration, particle size, wear severity, temperature, and corrosiveness.
Can replacement parts be produced from samples?
Yes. We can evaluate structure and dimensions based on physical samples, drawings, or measurements, and arrange production upon confirmation.
How to identify impeller and casing models?
Please provide OEM brand, pump type, model, part number, drawings, dimensions, photos, and medium details for technical verification.
Can impellers or casings be purchased separately?
Yes. Customers can purchase impellers, casings, or other parts separately based on maintenance and replacement needs.
Which industrial pumps do impellers and casings fit?
Mainly slurry pumps, gravel pumps, dredge pumps, submersible slurry pumps, froth pumps, and other slurry transport equipment.
What products are included in the pump parts series?
It mainly includes impellers and casings. Liners, shaft sleeves, seals, and other wear parts can also be evaluated and supplied based on pump models.
